Here at Wellbeing Care, we understand the importance of keeping fit in your senior years.

That’s why we plan regular group fitness sessions - such as workouts, games and activities - to encourage our residents to be more active.

This month, to celebrate National Senior Health and Fitness Day, we welcomed an inclusive fitness provider, Gfitness, to Meadow View:

Group Fitness: The Importance of Exercise

Exercise is an essential part of everyday life. It can help to prevent serious illnesses and reduce the risk of falls, as well as improve mental health and improve cognitive function.

Fitness shouldn’t feel like a chore, though - and here at Wellbeing Care, we aim to keep our residents moving by having fun.

That’s why we were delighted when the leading provider of professional exercise classes, Gfitness, visited our home, offering a fun and inclusive workout for each of our residents.

The Gfitness team travel all over the country, supporting the health and wellbeing of care home residents and people with disabilities. The team focuses on being inclusive, by tailoring their sessions to suit all ages and abilities. They also endeavour to make the sessions fun and engaging, helping to keep all the participants motivated and happy.

Group Fitness: Partnering With Gfitness

Here at Meadow View, our residents loved taking part in the Gfitness session with their instructor, Mike.

The session lasted for 30 minutes. It was a great success, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be partnering with Gfitness for our other care homes, too.

Joy Henshaw, our registered manager here at Wellbeing Care, said: “We believe that physical fitness should be enjoyed by everyone, which is why it was imperative we celebrate National Senior Health and Fitness Day.

“We decided to reach out to Gfitness to see if they could help us celebrate by providing a fun and interactive fitness session for our residents.

“The support we received was fantastic. Mike provided a 30-minute session for our residents, who thoroughly enjoyed the class. They were beaming for the entire day afterwards!

“After the success of the Gfitness workout, we're now looking to instate fitness initiatives across our other homes. This will help to boost residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.”
